Ouray is Great

We thought today would be a fun day to visit the 'switzerland of the
west.' The ice climbers were all over the place scrambling up the
frozen waterfalls. Crazy.
We found my favorite rock shop open as well as the candy store and a
beautiful old renoved inn.

We're enjoying a beautiful white Christmas this week. We're going over
Monarch pass this afternoon and on to Great-Grandma's house. Wish us

Talk About A Great Experience!

We stopped off at the capitol friday night to watch congress in
session. We stumbled upon one of the floor legal advisors and he was
nice enough to give us the vip tour! We saw the rotunda, statuary
hall, subway underneath and had an amazing time learning about the
history of this great building. Unbelievable good fortune (or tender
mercies, as you please). We spent the whole evening in there so we had
to go back on saturday to see the rest of the mall.

Hannah is 7

Hannah celebrated her seventh birthday today with lots of pink things,
barbies, strawberries, and princess themed objects. She claims that
she has been waiting all year for this day!

Nathan's First Turkey!

Nathan carved his first turkey today. He liked the power knife better
than a regular one. He says it was 'fun, but hard.' We didn't even
need a bandaid afterwards.

St Louis Fun

We tried out Mimi's Cafe this morning for breakfast. Thanks for the
suggestion, Mema, it was very good!

We're off to get sugared up. Keep your porch lights on!

Carvin' Day!

Time to adorn the place like sleepy hollow. Nathan stayed clear this
year claiming the pumpkin guts made him 'oogy.' several others had no
apparent similar concerns.

Nathan Plays Too

Nathan tried out for football this year, also. He has decided to try
out for a whole bunch of sports and see which one he likes the best.

Football Wrapping Up

Ben's first season comes to a close this week. He has really enjoyed
himself and discovered he likes to bowl people over.

What a Nice Picture!

I liked this picture so much, I had to post it, even though it is a
week or so old.

Quacks Me Up

I only thought I had seen it all, and then I stayed at a Peabody
Hotel. Apparently years ago a guy set some ducks loose in the lobby
fountain as a prank. It caught on and now the ducks live there. Every
day they are escorted from their rooftop coop to the fountain via an
elevator and a red carpet. The parade music really puts it over the top.

Pumpkin Time

In between conference sessions we took Tiffanie to see the farm park.
Looks pretty good!

Harvest Home Festival

Each year one of the local churches holds an autumn festival complete
with games, rides, and barbeque. We have attended sporadically for at
least 15 years. The horse picture is one we have repeated with all of
the kids.

Guess Who's Driving Now?

Here it is - proof that Amber has driven my car (of course I had to
get new front end bearings this week, but she claims to have nothing
to do with that). Nathan is obviously very pleased about the whole
thing.

More St Louis

We enjoyed the World Bird Sanctuary, a new part of Lone Elk Park, the
arch, and the paddleboats in Forest Park.

St Louis

Nathan's first trip to the Temple. We continued our mini vacation with
a stop downtown by the arch.

St Louis Weekend

One last hurrah before school starts. We are enjoying a weekend in the
Gateway City with swimming, temple, and Forest Park. More photos

Sunday in the Park

We had a nice visit to the flower gardens at Nathaniel Greene Park
this evening. Hard to believe that this is July weather!

And the Winner is...

You know it must be a good summer when Dave lets me win twice in one
week! 6-3 on Wed and 8-6 on Fri. I just hope he doesn't get his racket
re-strung (or find out that I snipped it in the first place - just
kidding!).

Ben the Biker

Ben tried out the local bmx track with the scouts this week. He thought it was great fun.

Bike Ride

We enjoyed a little bike ride this evening after family time. The
geese were a little protective of these benches, but we discovered
that boys can scare them off with a bark just as well as dogs can.
Hannah is sporting a new look having finally lost her front tooth this
evening.

Grandmama

Jennifer Adams Weaver passed away on Sunday, July 5th at about 6am central time. In my decidedly biased opinion she was the model of a grandmother. Always loving and accepting no matter what shenanigans her kids, grandkids, or great grandkids got into. Here are a few pictures from the gathering in her honor from the time of her interment on the 7th of July beside her husband, Hugh. Her remaining five children were together again for the first time in many years.
