Birthday Wishes

My office had some interesting decor when I arrived today. If you look
closely you will notice the walker and wheelchair that have been left
for me. The singing balloon and black draped desk really made the
picture. (sigh)

Ketchup on What?

What birthday week would be complete without a trip to the El Maguey mexican restaurant? Dave even got a present for the occasion - ketchup flavored pringles.
I know...sounds gross to me too, but he loved them.

5K in the Morning

Back in my day 5K was a lot of money. Now its a just a lot of running!
Kimberlie, Nathan, and Benjamin tried out a run this weekend. Nathan was proud to get 30 minutes (3 minutes better than last year). Hannah and Dad worked the water station.

Amber's Prom

Priest - Laurel prom was a big hit this last month. Amber met her
friends at a member's home for a fancy dinner before the dance. Her
invitation to the dance came in a shoe box from the priests, complete
with fancy shoes for her to wear.

Kimberlie had a violin recital today. A little wierd to have one on
Sunday, but seemed a pleasant afternoon.

marionberry jelly (thanks, Grandpa Jerry!).

Kyle turns 3

Family party at McIlquhams for Mr Kyle today! Hooray for ice cream and
cake on 'just-lost-an-hour-of-sleep' day.

Hooray for warmer weather! Grandma Dawn gave us this pod a few weeks
ago. Looks like it's doing just fine.

Hannah's New Bike

She saved her money and picked out this one. Can't wait for a family
ride.

We saw an albino alligator, the world record gar, and loads of stuffed
animals.

Hemingway's - Yum!

With the older three off on campouts/sleepovers we took off for some
seafood. Despite the little ones' reluctance they actually liked
shrimp and crab legs.

Hercules Sleepover

One of Ben's favorite weekend pasttimes is to have a kitchen sleepover
with his puppy. After watching the royal treatment Herc receives I
think it must be a favorite of his, too.

The first shave was stumbled upon this month. Not sure there was all
that much to do, but he went at it with gusto!

Youth Dinner

The kids had a youth shared dinner tonight at church. A cute idea
where the girls prepare and bring dinner for two, and the boys prepare
and bring dessert for two. Kids set out their food for display without
the opposite gender knowing whos food is from whom. They draw numbers
and get to sequentially select where they sit to have food, hosted by
the person who brought it. Fun!

Sledding - Hooray!

We were dismissed from school two hours early on Friday on account of the 7” of snow coming down about us. Things were slick enough on the roads to give us a great 180 spin on the way home (under control the whole time, of course). The kids really liked that. Pictures from the Carver sledding trip.

Pinewood Derby Time!

Benjamin dreamed up a football themed car for this year’s derby.

He won about half of the races including this one – the closest photo finish of the night. Taking pictures was Nathan’s job.

Ouray is Great

We thought today would be a fun day to visit the 'switzerland of the
west.' The ice climbers were all over the place scrambling up the
frozen waterfalls. Crazy.
We found my favorite rock shop open as well as the candy store and a
beautiful old renoved inn.

82 Years

Despite the span, these two are enjoying their Christmas pleasures.
Hannah treated us to a reading of 'Twas the Night Before Christmas
with Great-Grandma's book.

We're enjoying a beautiful white Christmas this week. We're going over
Monarch pass this afternoon and on to Great-Grandma's house. Wish us

Not much action today, but unbelievably green. Not sure how 'Babe'
would feel about his statue here, but he was from Baltimore.

Talk About A Great Experience!

We stopped off at the capitol friday night to watch congress in
session. We stumbled upon one of the floor legal advisors and he was
nice enough to give us the vip tour! We saw the rotunda, statuary
hall, subway underneath and had an amazing time learning about the
history of this great building. Unbelievable good fortune (or tender
mercies, as you please). We spent the whole evening in there so we had
to go back on saturday to see the rest of the mall.

Hannah is 7

Hannah celebrated her seventh birthday today with lots of pink things,
barbies, strawberries, and princess themed objects. She claims that
she has been waiting all year for this day!

Nathan's First Turkey!

Nathan carved his first turkey today. He liked the power knife better
than a regular one. He says it was 'fun, but hard.' We didn't even
need a bandaid afterwards.

St Louis Fun

We tried out Mimi's Cafe this morning for breakfast. Thanks for the
suggestion, Mema, it was very good!
